Dr Alexander Chan has brought to IFPHK almost 20 years' financial and accounting experience,over half of the time stationed in China. Prior to joining ING FP, he has worked for ABN Amro, Standard Chartered Bank, BNP, Sumitomo group, Sun Hung Kai Properties group, all are financial heavy weights-to name just a few. Recently, he has mainly devoted his time in the PRC and Taiwan markets. Indeed, he belongs to the first batch of CFP certificants in the PRC and HK all via examination.
Dr Chan holds doctorate degrees in Law & Engineering Management. After graduating from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a BSSc in Economics, he continued to further his studies in law and accounting while he was working in the foresaid financial institutions.
He is currently a fellow in the Hong Kong Institute of CPA, the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants, the Association of International Accountants, Chartered Institute of Bankers, Royal Society of Arts etc. He is also a member of Australian Society of CPAs, Certified Management Accountant in the US, the Association of Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. As for his legal education, he has earned his LLBs in University of London and Peking University in the 90s, and a LLM degree in University of London a few years later.
Dr Chan is active in promoting the concepts of financial planning in the Greater China region. He has been teaching for the financial institutions and universities in China since 1994. He is also active in participating in voluntary teaching in the mountaineering regions in Guangdong, Guizhou, Jiangxi, Hubei etc in China. Dr Chan is a renowned speaker and columnist in the areas of financial planning in the PRC and Hong Kong. He is also an external examiner of the foundation diploma in Business Administration and an honorable member of the alumni association in Financial Services and Accounting in IVE, honorable consultant of the Shenzhen Domestic Banking association, alumni of PRC Law program, Open University of Hong Kong as well as the Adult College of the Shanghai College of Finance. In his leisure time, Dr Chan is reading development psychology at the South West University in China. |
